Fresh out of high school, Natsuko Hirose lands a job at an animation studio and quickly rises to fame, debuting as a director whose first series becomes a cultural sensation. Her meteoric success brands her as a prodigy, and she is soon tasked with helming a romantic‑comedy feature centered on the bittersweet feeling of first love.

Because Natsuko has never experienced that spark herself, she finds herself stuck, unable to translate the elusive emotions onto the storyboard.
